Elevation Lab’s TimeCapsule is a waterproof 10-year battery case for your AirTag

A company called Elevation Lab has released an accessory for the Apple AirTag that extends its battery life by up to 10 years and makes it waterproof. The TimeCapsule is basically a case that holds your AirTag and two AA batteries.

You don’t have to open up your AirTag and tinker with it — you only need to remove its backplate and coin battery before adding it to the case. As you can see, this will make your tracking device much larger and quite bulky, so it’s ideal for use with larger items like vehicles and large suitcases.

As Elevation Lab states in its announcement, the TimeCapsule could make it easier to manage multiple AirTags. You’ll no longer have to replace their batteries every year to ensure they’ll work properly if you lose your luggage. However, the batteries you use will dictate how long it will take you to open the case and replace them.

The Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries recommended by Elevation Labs are each 1.5V and have a capacity of over 3,000mAh, which is why they can power an AirTag for up to a decade. Other AA batteries will work with the case, but they may not be as effective depending on their features. The amount you’ll spend for the whole setup will depend on the batteries you choose, but the case will cost you $20.

The latest MacBook Air ticks a lot of boxes: not only is it our top pick for the best laptop available now, but we also consider it the best laptop for college students and the best MacBook for most people. Apple hasn’t changed much with the latest iteration, but that’s to be expected since the previous entry was the most significant redesign in nearly a decade.

The new 13-inch MacBook Air has a faster M3 chip, as well as the ability to drive dual external monitors (but only with the lid closed) and support for Wi-Fi 6E. There’s also a fingerprint free finish for the black “Midnight” model that actually works!

It’s hard to improve on a laptop we previously considered near-perfect, but a new chip certainly helps. The M3 processor is about 20 percent faster than the M2 for both single-core and multi-core tasks, and it offers a significant GPU bump as well as support for real-time ray tracing. Battery life remains best in class, with enough juice to last you several work days without a charger.
